Default What are your simming goals and resolutions for 2024?
This thread pops up about this time at end of the year for the last few years now. So It's the burning question, what do you want to achieve with your gameplay, creations, or other sims-related content in 2024?

Last year, here were my goals:
1. Make a phone accessory based on the maxis phone receiver
- Didn't actually need to do that, one already existed.
2. For real-real start up one of those artisan businesses
- for real real, I did not. My sims had another year of sobriety with no wine or mead.
3. Graduate at least 10 sims that are almost being held hostage at this point in Uni
- I did this! I did 11 I think!!? 36 more to go...
4. MORE BABIES. My goal for 2023 is to have at least 10 new babies! My hood is going to suffer from a population collapse if I don't do something y'all.
- I did this too!!! 12-ish new nooboos! so the populace of Kashmire is in better shape going into 2024.
5. Fix and release the previously mentioned child-sitting-on-the-ground posebox
- ha, no. But I did make OTHER poseboxes to release, does that count?
6. Write up or do a video/workshop/tutorial about how to spice up Sim Vacations
- eh, kind of. I have writing but haven't done a video/workshop about it yet
7. Finish the story about my teens on winter Vacation
- Surprising no one, I didn't finish a story either but I did update it and now it has one chapter left!
8. Update my hood thread again.
- uh...maybe I will get this done before 2024.
9. Maybe get RPC Launcher again and see if it works better for my game
- I did this and it does!
10. Try to make a couples posebox and not fail in my goal again (I think I put this down in 2020 and didn't do it)
- I tried. I think that counts. I at least have a better understanding of how to do it now.

So that being said here are my 10 goals for 2024 for Sims 2

1. Graduate 10 more Sims. I have a lot of Uni sims.
2. Make and release a tattoo overlay posebox
3. Finish updating my sims 2 story blog so its up to date
4. For really real-real start one of those artisan businesses
5. Finish giving all the males that need it, body hair.
6. At least one sim transition in 2024, I have been wanting to try out that mod.
7. Publish and take pics for at least 1 chapter of the sims story I wrote nearly 100 pages on in 2023
8. Host another discord workshop on how to build swimmable lakes
9. Play more elders (get 10 sims to expire w/ no cheats)

What about you all?

Uh oh! My social bar is low - that's why I posted today.

1. In Arundel: Get a Queen or King elected; Have the first marriages of the 2nd generation; 2nd (heir) generation males graduate from college; get a working social class and tax structure going. (4)

2. In Tinsel Town: All the founders pass away, the second generation turns elder, the 3rd generation graduates college and marries. (4)

3. Pleasantview: Get all the 2nd generation (Mortimer Goth and all the children) grow up to teens and YA's, and start their relationships; the elders pass away. Because this time I'm not going to go by the 'canon' story line, the kids will end up with who ever they want..(4)

12 resolutions, 4 per hood.

And, of course: Play as much as possible! Have fun! Download CC when needed!

Last year:
Continue fixing up my Strangetown's Downtown - It didn't say to finish it, so yes.
Maybe download a clean Pleasantview and play some one-day rotations - Yes, I played some days in the various households. It's out of my game now, but I did save the save in case I ever want to do something else there. (Also I noticed in last year's thread I said I "peek into" Veronaville "every now and then", "very sporadically". Clearly that was before I got all caught up in it, this year I might even have played more there than with my "main" sims over in Strangetown.)
Maybe use a randomizer or something similar if I'm stuck in a rut with a household - In Veronaville I've made some decisions by randomizing between different options, but I haven't even thought of doing something like that with my own sims, probably because my playstyle differs a bit between the hoods.

For 2024:
*Reach generation 8 with my Neighbour/Caliente-descendants. Generation 7 has five people in it so far, with three of them being teenagers, so this definitely feels doable.
*Build the rest of the lots I want to make for Downtown. A store for buying cars, a bowling alley, a town square, a dingy little pub and possibly a casino.
*Try playing with custom careers. I've never downloaded one before and I'm getting tired of the limited choices I have in my game.
*Try at least one challenge. My only experience with playing challenges are two attempts at a legacy over fifteen years ago (one I abandoned shortly after the second generation was born, the other one even earlier than that). I'm particularly interested in trying out the asylum challenge and apocalypse challenge.

Last year: Finish round 2. I'm almost done! I just have one more household. I should be done round 2 by the end of the year no problem.

For 2024: Finish round 3. Play more sims and have lots of fun doing so.

Let's see, hoo boy:
1. Finish and upload more of the Build Mode sets I've been working on for the past...two? three? years
2. Finish a certain set I've been working on since...2016? for folks to enjoy
3. Upload my first clothing meshes
4. ACTUALLY PLAY THE GAME FOR ONCE! (Sorry for the all caps, but...I get into this cycle of playing, then realizing I can make something for a particular decorating/dressing/building want at the time, and then get stuck in projects for YEARS as I think of more and more things I want to have for my game)

1: Play more TS2
2: Get moving on my story NH and Downloads folder renewal project (got at least somewhere this year, but not where I wanted. Had a good cycle going for a little while, then got thrown off the loop)
3: Make more CC
4: Take more pictures
5: Maybe get into TS4 again (if I dare do anything with the EA app...), but this one is a very low priority.

Can't remember the goals for last year, but they were something along these lines. Recycle and repeat? XD

Let's see, perhaps if I write this down I'll force myself to fulfill at least one

1. Start my take on a legacy challenge I've had for a while now
2. Start a rotational playthrough
3.Try out ROS (and commit to whatever is given)
3. Learn to recolor stuff, maybe, idk
4. Be more active on the community (:

1. Don't actually restart everything this time, just play the game, just let things happen!
2. Actually put effort into a custom 'hood for once.
3. Do a legacy challenge!
4. Figure out how to make my own defaults, because I don't like blue zombies, and none of the zombie defaults that aren't Just Blue appeal to me either! I gotta fix my picky-ness myself!
5. Actually do something with my story I wanna share with people!

1. Finish my "Missing Sims" mod (and use it in Strangetown).
2. Finishing Round 15 in Strangetown is probably optimistic, but start it at least.
3. Play enough Pleasantview that Daniel and Mary Sue finalise their divorce, because they're both ready to move on. (I play a slow game in Pleasantview)

And I would put five aims like everyone else, but I have two real life small people so they'll take the time I might have for aims 4 & 5 :P

Here are mine for 2024.
1.Acually fin more time for playing my game.
2.Load up and actually play in Pleasantview though the first year and start having other families arriving and setting up their colonial lives in 17th century Pleasantview until they get ready to start having babies.
3.Set up Arbor Valley and start playing the town.
4.Work on building more apartment housing options to place in my towns.
.5.Set up Riverview City and start the town up from it's 16th century founding as an Early MCC coloniql settlement.

In 2023 I finally completed Paternoster - and I am very proud of that hood.

I started a vacation hood which is not far from completed - depending on our load shedding, I hope to upload it on 15 December.

In 2024 I am just going to play.

Chances are I will play the vanilla game - add some mods and cc along the way.

YES.

I didn't achieve anything TS2 related in 2023 due to my immense procrastination (and I feel really bad about it) but I have a few goals for 2024:

1 - actually reinstall and PLAY the damn game!!
I love seeing everyone else play their game and want to do the same, but keep putting it off; most of the time, my mental health gets in the way but I want to get it done! I've wasted so much time with other stuff when I could be having fun in TS2....

2 - play rotationally
The only way to play any hood - at least for me; I just need to actually do it! Get some rules and a hood spreadsheet set up, and commit to it! Maybe even throw in using a ROS and see how that goes...

3 - relearn how to use Milkshape & Paint.net/Photoshop and attempt to teach myself how to convert from TS3 and TS4
I used to love playing around with recolouring and frankenmeshing back in the day, and I'd like to get back into it; maybe even create something for others to download??

4 - actually build all the homes and community lots on my list
Yes, I have a list (lol) and I've been adding to it for years all the lots I'd love to try building, especially community lots! I feel TS2 has more freedom in what kind of lots I can openly create (moreso than TS3 & 4) but I'm a useless builder...
However, the only way I can improve is to actually start building and to practice more!

I can't think of anything else at the moment, but this is a great thread and I love reading what resolutions others have re: TS2 in 2024!

My main resolution is to keep playing my Pleasantview-Strangetown neighborhood and not restart it.

I hadn't played it in a while because I was playing a different 'hood, and I started thinking about maybe giving up on it. But then I decided to just go play one family today and see if I was still interested. I opened up the Lothario household, Carlene got an unexpected baby bump right when I got into the household, and I remembered how much I had grown to love these Sims. I am going to see all of the second generation grow up!

I'm scared to look to see what my goals for 2023 were. Probably something about learning to mesh clothes and learning to do Simantics scripting. Whatever they were, I know I haven't achieved them! But I do manage to play most days, and I really enjoy that. And I like to think my Sims are enjoying it too! I've also fixed an issue that was causing Veronaville to keep crashing. And my game is now playing well again. So generally I'm quite happy with my Simming life, even if I haven't done what I set out to do.

For next year, I'll carry forward Body Shop meshing (and proper recolouring) and Simantics scripting yet again. But I'll also continue to play and enjoy the game. It's currently taking a year and seven months to complete a (loose) rotation in Veronaville, so Ill try to catch up on the backlog so we can do it in under a year. It would of course help if I stopped adding new Sims in CAS! One new thing I'd like t do in the next year, is download Sims 4 base game (seeing it's free now) and install it. I'm sure I'll play it a little, so I can feel for myself what it's like. But my main reason for wanting it is so I can convert sexy TS4 clothes (mainly CC clothes) to TS2 so my Sims can wear them too!

Now I'll see if I can find last year's thread, so I can see what I've failed to do!

All Sims are beautiful -- even the ugly ones.

STOP playing so much! 8 to 10 hours a day/night really messes me up. Various physical problems are made worse by lack of sleep and inconsistent schedule of sleeping & eating. So it's 8 pm now and I just got up - was falling asleep at the computer. So here I am back again, and about to fire up the game. Rebuilt that dorm! Get the Ottomas kids (all 6 of them) through college in the right order. Should I let college townie/dormies live, especially since most of them are zombies? I have taken a liking to some of them, and gave them decent personalities, and "cured" them - that zombie walk and groaning is no longer funny.

Stand up, speak out. Just not to me..

Most importantly... buy a desk for my bedroom because I'm getting too old to sit hunched over my laptop on my bed. My neck and wrists hurt after an hour or so.

Secondly, actual game related, I want to get through the dark ages of my ToT challenge.

Thats about it really. I don't have much play time these days.

I don't think I had any goals this year. Next year, I want to be able to keep playing and having fun with the game, but I also want to finally stop fearing what I see when I open up a certain object I want to mod in SimPe. I should be able to just go in and try poking about with it like I have with other objects, but for some reason I do what I used to do with high jumping in PE and stop just before the bar. For next year, I really want to get over that! I also want to finish testing make up defaults and set up a good list of what I actually like and dislike in the game.

1. Build cool shit (thats what I say but will I?)
2. Rescue that 1 cas sim I supposedly like
2. Ditch the cleaned hoods cos a)mysterious townie names that didnt ship with the game have replaced names; b) if my game didnt die in the 12 years before cleaned hoods existed, its probably fine.
2. (again) because can I actually resuce her if i scrap the neighbourhood and cant be bothered to learn/fix/use simpe?

What's most likely to happen though is that I'll build then forget about it and then find it and then hate it and then build something else and so on

And I am late with uploading my vacation hood.

It is completely done; I still have to take some screenshots and get the info together in a logical way.

Loadshedding is suspended for now, but now we have an internet problem - wifi goes on and off and the provider is (and has been, for a while) "working on it."

The good news is that no NPC's seems to have generated! I still don't know how or why some generated when I built Paternoster. Let us hope it stays that way!
